Welcome!
We are currently operating our Nisqually Community Internet Radio Station
in McKenna (by Yelm, near Olympia Fort Lewis and Tacoma Washington) and seeking folks (including students) to act as our
radio personalities, disk jockeys, station management people, advertisers, and musicians.
Our stated goal is to act as a hub for local news and entertainment while
serving the community as a local forum.
Students and folks from the surrounding communities are encouraged to join us
as interns or staff and learn or help teach about internet radio broadcasting,
internet radio site management and in
general, the day to day operations involved.
We use a NullSoft ShoutCast Server for our internet broadcasts which in turn may be received through
the internet ...anywhere in the world. (While we often play royalty free music, the
listener is advised to treat all of our broadcasts as if is copyright protected
and to please refrain from archiving or reproducing our broadcasts without express permission in
writing from the artist or copyright holder.) We make an attempt to link to the websites of the musicians or others who are contributing to our broadcasts. You will find them listed on our musicians page.
Our plans extend to covering (the Nisqually area) school events such as concerts
and ball games. If you are enrolled in one of the local schools and interested in participating, contact your instructor or teacher and ask if they are willing to sponsor you. We will work with your school and teachers to help them develop a program suited to educational goals. We offer to either broadcast recorded works of these programs, or allow the school to manage a weekly time slot directly through the schools computers broadcasting to our streaming server. If you are a student and really really want to participate, contact that special teacher you know who will be eager to try something new, and tell them to contact Nisqually Radio.
contact us if you are interested in
participating. Please also
contact your school's media (or English or computer)
instructor and ask if they are willing to sponsor your internship. (No fee is
required.)
We've put up both a blog and a bulletin board and you are encouraged to visit
them and participate. Let us know who you are, tell us what you know, offer
something you own or do for trade or sale (please: within reason, we don't abide by
illegal or grown-up only stuff, and we suggest participation in one of our
advertising solutions if your blogs start to sound too much like an advertisement
for a booming business.)
Attention artists and art lovers: Our 3D gallery is now online! Our Nisqually Radio webmaster is a 3D fanatic, having dabbled in VRML-2 (Virtual Reality Modeling Language) for over a decade. Check out our gallery webpage for more information, or proceed directly to our 3D virtual world plaza (containing several galleries) by clicking here.
Want to help? It's easy! Be a listener.
Our local community needs a hospital so we have created a web page to
bring the topic up to the community. Check it out... click here
